"Frankenstein" or "Frankenstein's Monster" is a 1931 American Gothic Horror film, written by Francis Edward Faragoh and Garrett Fort, and directed by James Whale, under the production company Universal Pictures. The film is an adaptation of the play of the same name by Peggy Webling, which in turn is based on the novel "Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus" by Mary Shelley and is considered a pioneer in horror films, as well as one of the best horror films in history.
Synopsis.
Dr. Henry Von Frankenstein undertakes a dark experiment: to build, from fragments of corpses, a new human being. With the help of his servant Fritz, he goes into the local cemeteries at night to extract the parts he needs from the corpses. What he does not know is that the brain he has used in his experiment had belonged to a criminal.
