As one of the best home invasions in the horror genre, 2008's “The Stangers” concludes with our protagonist couple being killed “off-camera” to give us a final scare when it is revealed that Kristen is still alive. An ending that, originally, was slightly longer.
Description.
While, it is known that in the original script the ending was even longer, showing us The Strangers playing music for James and Kristen, cleaning the house after their stalking, stealing James and Kristen's clothes and putting them on, plus lots of dialogue, including Pin-Up Girl whispering “I'm sorry” to James as she stabs him, the extended version of the feature film presents us with a slightly more “complete” ending.
The extended finale begins after James and Kristen were stabbed. The Strangers seem to be gone and Mike's phone starts ringing next to his rotting body. Kristen is still, barely, alive and she hears the phone and crawls across the floor to grab it. She misses the call and then tries to call 911, but the floor creaks behind her and the Man in the Mask takes the phone from her and leaves her for dead. After that, it continues with the theatrical finale with the Mormon children.
