The fourth installment in the “Saw” franchise served as a restructuring that
gave rise to the second half of the saga (original) introducing us to a previous
successor (Hoffman) of Jigsaw, thus allowing to extend the story to reach 7
films. Although, the different preliminary scripts covered the same line, the
first draft script counted with the participation of detective Erick Mathews as
the main character, as well as the appearance of more characters from the first
3 installments.
