"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" is a 1920 German silent film written by Hans
Janowitz and Carl Mayer and directed by Robert Wiene. It is considered to be the
quintessential work of German expressionist cinema and the first film to include
a plot twist.
Synopsis.
Dr. Caligari, a hypnotist, uses Cesare, a sleepwalker, to commit murder.
